Reduced Mobility

The Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) is dedicated to providing accessibility for people with reduced mobility throughout its facilities at Dublin Airport. Assistance for passengers with reduced mobility is available at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

How To Request Assistance
People with reduced mobility should contact and notify their airline, travel agent or tour operator with details of their assistance requirements at least 48 hours in advance of the departure of their flight.

On arrival at Dublin Airport, passengers can use the Help Points detailed below to gain assistance or can go to the One Complete Solution (OCS) Reception Desk on the Departures floor in Terminal 1 (to the right hand side when entering through Door 2) or in the Check-in Hall in Terminal 2, adjacent to the dedicated drop-off zone for reduced mobility passengers.

If a passenger wishes they can go directly to their Check-in desk and inform airline staff during their check-in that they have requested assistance, at which point a representative from OCS will arrive to provide assistance.

Background

From 26 July 2008, under Regulation EC 1107 / 2006, managing bodies of airports, such as Dublin Airport Authority (DAA), have legal responsibility for the provision of assistance services to persons with reduced mobility when travelling by air.

Following an extensive consultative process involving air carriers, their handling agents and organisations representing persons with reduced mobility, DAA has appointed One Complete Solution Ltd (OCS) to provide assistance services to people with reduced mobility.

Quality Standards
DAA has established quality standards for the assistance services specified in Annex 1 of the Regulation. Version 1.0 was the subject of consultation with air carriers and their agents and organisations representing persons with reduced mobility from 1 October 2007.

The quality standards may be inspected here:

The DAA has also set up a Disability Users Group comprising representatives from a broad range of organisations catering for individuals with specific disabilities. Our goal in establishing this group is to ensure that any decisions relating to future developments are fully communicated to those people or groups with specific needs.

DAA provides the following facilities (which are continuously monitored) for passengers with reduced mobility:

Set down area on the Departures road

Dedicated set down areas have been allocated on the Departures roads to allow easy access to the Terminal when dropping a passenger off a person with reduced mobility.

Car park facilities for persons with reduced mobility

Short Term

Dublin Airport has more than 50 spaces designated for disabled parking permit holders in the Short Term car park, on the lower ground floor of Block B in front of the terminal building. These spaces are well signed and are wheelchair accessible. In addition each space has been treated with a special non slip surface to provide easy movement and access for customers. A valid disabled parking permit must be presented at the entrance to the Short Term B car park to access these facilities.

It is not necessary for disabled parking permit holders to book parking in the Short Term B car park online - a rate of €9.50 per day, lower than the lowest online daily Short Term rate (click here for current short term car park rates), is available when they present their permit at the Short Term B car park. Should disabled parking permit holders only require parking for a short period of time, a rate of €3 for the first hour and €4.50 for the subsequent hour applies – a rate of €9.50 per day applies thereafter.
