Community Engagement

On a bright Friday morning in October, a warm welcome was waiting for the daa staff who arrived at St. Nicholas of Myra National School in Kinsealy. The excited students welcomed the volunteers in a guard of honour before preforming a collection of songs and spirits were high for the day ahead.
As part of daa's Community Outreach in local communities, over 40 daa staff donned work gloves and rolled up their sleeves to join Difference Days Ltd, to build an outdoor classroom and horticultural area for the school. The sun shone bright as staff built raised planting beds for the students to grow their own vegetables and plants next to their outdoor seating area, while another team got to work drilling and erecting the walls of the outdoor classroom.
Michelle Molloy, daa's Community Engagement Manager, said 'daa is delighted to be able to give back to local communities in this way. daa staff volunteering makes a real difference and is another way that daa supports local communities.'
Ronan Kennedy, Principal at St. Nicholas of Myra NS, expressed his thanks on behalf of the school, 'A huge thank you for all the work that went into our Difference Day last Friday. It was such a brilliant day and everyone involved, from teachers, parents and pupils, have all commented on how much they enjoyed it and how wonderful it was to be a part of it and have an event like this in our school.'
