Almost 1.3 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport in December, an increase of 6% on the same period last year, according to the Dublin Airport Authority.
Passenger volumes to and from continental Europe grew by 6% with more than 600,000 passengers travelling to European destinations during the month. UK traffic recorded an increase of 1% in passenger volumes with almost 534,000 passengers travelling in December.
Passenger numbers on domestic routes increased by 4% with just over 5,400 passengers taking domestic flights last month.
Transatlantic traffic to North America grew by 13% with over 107,000 passengers travelling on this route sector in December. Other international passenger traffic, which covers flights to the Middle East, increased by over 100% with more than 44,500 passengers travelling this route sector in December. This route sector is now serviced by two airlines.
Over 19.1 million passengers have travelled through Dublin Airport in 2012 a 2% increase over the previous year.
