daa, which operates Dublin and Cork airports, welcomes today’s announcement from the European Commission that it has cleared the proposal by IAG to acquire Aer Lingus.
“Today’s announcement from the European Commission is good news for both Dublin and Cork airports,” said daa Chief Executive Kevin Toland.
“IAG’s acquisition of Aer Lingus will bring greater opportunities for short-haul growth from both Dublin and Cork airports,” according to Mr Toland.
“Dublin Airport is already becoming a significant hub for transatlantic travel and this market segment will be further strengthened with IAG as the owner of Aer Lingus enabling additional long-haul connections and frequencies into Dublin’s existing transatlantic hub,” Mr Toland added.
