Dublin Airport welcomes today’s announcement by Loganair that it is to operate services between Dublin and Carlisle Lake District Airport.
The airline will operate its five times weekly service with a 33-seater Saab 340B aircraft from July 4.
“The Lake District is a stunningly beautiful area in the UK and we are delighted to add it as a new destination to our route network,” said Dublin Airport Managing Director, Vincent Harrison. “I have no doubt that this new route will be popular in both directions for Irish and British customers. We will work closely with Loganair to promote its new service.”
Dublin Airport’s US Pre Clearance facilities offer British passengers the opportunity to use Dublin as a gateway to America. Passengers using this facility save time on arrival in the US by completing all the necessary immigration and customs checks in Dublin prior to departure. The only queue a pre-cleared passenger encounters on arrival in the US is the taxi queue to their final destination.
Loganair Commercial Director Kay Ryan said she was extremely pleased that that tickets are now on sale linking Dublin Airport with Carlisle Lake District Airport.
“There is huge demand for passengers in Ireland to visit Carlisle, which is home to major engineering, manufacturing and logistics industries and serves as a gateway to the Lake District, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We also anticipate strong interest from passengers in Carlisle and the Scottish Borderlands area who are eager to spend time in Ireland.”
Last year Dublin Airport welcomed 31.5 million passengers, which was a 6% increase on 2017. Dublin Airport has flights to almost 200 destinations in 43 countries, operated by 56 airlines and is the 11th busiest airport in the European Union.
