More than 1.4 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport in December, an increase of 9% on the same period last year, according to the Dublin Airport Authority.
Passenger volumes to and from continental Europe grew by 4% with more than 628,000 passengers travelling to European destinations during the month. UK traffic recorded an increase of 13% in passenger volumes with more than 604,000 passengers travelling in December.
Transatlantic traffic to North America grew by 16% with more than 125,000 passengers travelling on this route sector in December.
Other international passenger traffic, which covers flights to the Middle East and North Africa, increased by 8%, with more than 48,000 passengers travelling this route sector in December.
Passenger numbers on domestic routes fell by 8% with just under 5,000 passengers taking domestic flights last month. More than 20.2 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport during 2013, a 6% increase on the previous year.
