Almost 1,700 performers from 50 schools, choirs and musical groups across North County Dublin will entertain passengers from today (Monday, December 11) with performances in Terminal 1 and 2 at Dublin Airport daily, right up until Christmas Eve.
“Dublin Airport holds a special place in the hearts of thousands of passengers coming home for Christmas from every corner of the globe, as well as those who choose to visit Ireland for the holidays,” said Gary McLean, Managing Director of Dublin Airport.
"We've been busy planning our Christmas entertainment calendar since the summer and we are excited to launch today our most expansive musical programme to date,” he added.
“This year Dublin Airport staff will take the reins of the entertainment program on Saturday, December 23 to raise much-needed funds for daa’s staff charities, The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Ronald McDonald House, and Cork Life Centre. I have no doubt they will spread festive cheer among airport passengers, as well as those joyfully reuniting with their loved ones,” said Gary McLean.
“Many of our performers are from schools in communities close to the airport, including Mary Queen of Ireland National School in Toberburr, Thornleigh Educate Together in Swords, St Mary’s National School in Oldtown and St. Cronan's JNS in Swords. We also have adult choirs such as, the Portmarnock Singers, the Dublin Airport Fire Service Band and The Forget-Me-Nots, while Christmas Eve will see a special performance from the Dublin Gospel Choir.”
“It's a wonderful opportunity for our airport community to come together, celebrate, and contribute to meaningful causes during this festive season. We would like to thank all our performers for helping to make Christmas homing comings extra special at Dublin Airport,” he added.
Today FM’s Ian Dempsey Show will broadcast live from Terminal 2 Arrivals on Wednesday, December 20 from 06.00-09.00, and the 2FM Breakfast Show with Doireann, Donncha and Carl will broadcast live from Terminal 2 on Friday, December 22.
Dublin Airport’s entertainment programme will come to a spectacular climax on Christmas Eve with the Dublin Gospel Choir performing live in Terminal 2.
