Around 3.2 million passengers went through the terminal doors of Dublin Airport in June as the busy summer season fully kicked in.
Numbers travelling through the airport were swelled by tens of thousands of concert goers visiting Ireland to see top acts such as Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen and Pink, along many thousands of tourists arriving into Ireland for summer vacations all around the island.
The busiest day of the month at Dublin Airport, the busiest day in the month was Sunday, June 23 when just under 120,000 passengers moved through the terminals.
According to daa CEO Kenny Jacobs: “June was a big month at Dublin Airport as we welcomed hundreds of thousands of business and leisure passengers into and out of Ireland. Big events such as concerts are now a big draw for tourists into Ireland and we’ve had no shortage of those all-around Ireland over the past month.
“The terminals at Dublin Airport were very busy with American and Asian tourists coming to Ireland for summer holidays and golf and hiking trips. This inward tourism is hugely valuable for the whole of Ireland as they arrive into Dublin Airport before heading off to visit and spend money in all 32 counties. Every day in June saw more than 100,000 passengers travelling through Dublin Airport and that trend is set to continue through July and August with demand to fly in and out of Ireland remaining extremely high. The team at Dublin Airport, including our brilliant security officers who got 96% of all departing passengers through security screening in under 20 minutes in June, are knocking it out of the airfield this summer by providing passengers with a very smooth and enjoyable experience."
