Dublin Airport's biggest ever Christmas entertainment programme will come to a tuneful end on Christmas Eve when the Dublin Gospel Choir perform in the T2 Arrivals Hall.

The final performance brings the curtain down on a huge programme of activities that has included thousands of local school kids, local choirs and musical performers, keeping passengers and loved ones entertained as they arrive in Ireland for Christmas.

Dublin Airport will close on Christmas Day – the only day on which it closes every year - however a number of staff members will remain on duty that day, including the airport’s Airport Police and Fire and Rescue teams.

Graeme McQueen, Media Relations Manager at daa, said: "Flight operations at Dublin Airport will cease on Christmas Eve after the last flight arrives from Tenerife at 23.15 to ensure clear air traffic control space from midnight for Santa’s sleigh. Flights will resume on St. Stephen’s Day when an Aer Lingus flight to Athens will depart at 05.55."

"Looking ahead to New Year’s Eve, the final passenger flight scheduled to arrive into Dublin Airport is the Aer Lingus flight from Gran Canaria at 23.55. The following day, the first scheduled flight of the New Year due to arrive will be the Aer Lingus flight from New York JFK at 04.15, while the first flight scheduled to depart from Dublin Airport in 2025 will be a Ryanair flight to Malaga at 05.45.

Dublin Airport is advising passengers to be at the airport two hours prior to a short-haul flight and three hours before a long-haul flight this Christmas.

By the time the festive period ends, a total of 1.4 million passengers will have passed through Dublin Airport. The Arrivals Halls and Departure Gates have been hives of emotion and happiness over the past two weeks as people excitedly reunite with loved ones for the holidays. The busy period at Dublin Airport will continue later this week, with December 27 set to be the busiest day post-Christmas when around 97,000 passengers are set to pass through.

“Dublin Airport has additional Customer Care staff on duty over the Christmas season to ensure passengers have an efficient and smooth journey through the airport. We look forward to welcoming everyone over the coming days," added Mr McQueen.
